Nicaragua among world leaders in Gender Equality

Among world leaders in Gender Parity.
Yesterday, The World Economic Forum released its 2022 Gender Gap
Report. The report states that with a 0.81 gender gap score, Nicaragua
ranks number one in Latin America and 7 th in the world in gender parity.
The report noted that “Nicaragua continues to show progress,
maintaining a parity score of 1 on the Educational Attainment subindex,
and across all its indicators. On the Political Empowerment subindex,
Nicaragua remains in 5th place, registering parity in ministerial
positions since 2021, as well as raising its score for parliamentary parity
going from 0.938 in 2021 to 1 in 2022. The report also notes that in the
estimated earned income indicator, Nicaragua was able to show
improvement going from 0.456 last year to 0.682 this year.
Strong support for Sandinista Government confirmed.
Yesterday, M&R Consultants polling firm presented the results of its
recent national survey “Public Opinion Monitoring System”,
corresponding to the second trimester of this year. The survey states that
77.3% of Nicaraguans approve the work of the government headed by
President Daniel Ortega; 70.2% believe the Government is leading the
country in the right direction; 72.6% said President Ortega is a
democratically elected head of state that follows the laws of the country;
85.1% believe the government has the capacity to solve the problems
facing the country; 84.5% said the government is trusted by the people
and 77.6% state that the Government works for the benefit of the entire
population.
CABEI highlights advances of NICAVIDA project.
The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) presented
a report yesterday on advances of the “Sustainable Development of the
Livelihoods of Rural Families along the Nicaragua Dry Corridor
(NICAVIDA)” project. CABEI President, Dante Mossi, stated that
“CABEI wishes to highlight that 27,600 inhabitants along the Nicaragua
dry corridor, 71.3% of whom are indigenous women, have benefited from
the NICAVIDA project with financial incentives, strengthening
productive capabilities and access to markets to establish agribusinesses
and primary production initiatives adapted to climate change”. The
US$48.4 million-dollar NICAVIDA project financed by the General
Budget of the Republic, with support from CABEI and the International
Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), is 92% completed and seeks
to benefit 30 thousand inhabitants in seven departments along the
Nicaragua Dry Corridor by 2023.
Caliber Mining presents solid results.
Yesterday, Caliber Mining announced the results obtained at El Limón and
La Libertad gold mines in Chontales department corresponding to the
second trimester of 2022. The Company reported a production of 48,810
ounces of gold and US$40.1 million dollars in sales during the period.
Improvements in wastewater system in León.
The Nicaragua Water and Sewage Company and the Central American
Bank for Economic Integration signed a US$14.1 million-dollar
agreement yesterday, in support of the “Project to Improve and Expand
the Sewage and Wastewater Sanitation System in León”. The project
which includes construction of two new wastewater treatment plants, as
well as rehabilitation of three existing plants will be completed by July
2023, benefitting 264 thousand inhabitants.
