Eighteen individuals and organizations in the US-based Venezuela Strategy Group have  issued a statement on the conviction of Venezuela opposition figure Leopoldo Lopez who was sentenced to 13 years, 9 months in prison for inciting riots in 2014.  The riots resulted in the deaths of 43 people including police, civilians and rioters.
