Sunday July 1, 2PM, Venezuela Report Back
TASK FORCE ON THE AMERICAS invites you:
VENEZUELA RESISTS
Sunday, July 1, 2018
2:00-4:00 pm
Faye Hinze’s PEACE HOUSE
18 Seminole Av.
Corte Madera
The Venezuelan people reelected Nicolás Maduro for a second presidential term, bucking a US-backed political tide of reaction. The US and the rightwing opposition in Venezuela had demanded an election boycott and Maduro’s resignation. Defying them, the popular classes voted as a form of resistance in what they proudly told us was a “celebration of democracy.” Hugo Chávez’s Bolivarian Revolution was again affirmed as was Chávez’s successor.
Our speaker, Roger Harris, was in Venezuela as an election observer for both of Maduro’s elections. He will be showing a PowerPoint of his recent visit to Venezuela followed by a robust discussion. Roger is on the board of the Task Force on the Americas.
