This event was supposed to take place in-person in April but had to be canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Speakers: Fausto Torrez, Erika Takeo and Carissa Brands

Fausto Torrez, Secretary of International Relations of the Asociación de Trabajadores del Campo (Rural Workers’ Association, or ATC). He will discuss the construction of food and popular sovereignty in Latin America, focusing on the Nicaraguan context of the Sandinista Popular Revolution and the experience of the world’s largest social movement, La Via Campesina

Carissa Brands, from Task Force on the Americas will share her personal experience of what she saw in her recent visit to Nicaragua on the Sandino Vive! delegation, co-sponsored by the Friends of the ATC, Alliance for Global Justice and La Via Campesina Nicaragua

Erika Takeo, of the International Relations Secretariat of the ATC and Coordinator of Friends of the ATC.

Speakers will answer any questions people may have about the current context of Nicaragua, including the 2018 failed coup attempt or how Nicaragua is facing the current pandemic. Join us to strengthen people-to-people solidarity in the time of coronavirus.
